Jordi Matas is a Spanish freelance photographer, based in Istanbul, Turkey. His work, with a strong focus on social and humanitarian issues, has taken him to about 70 countries, from Africa to the Middle East, to Asia and Europe. Jordi Matas regularly photographs for international NGOs such as UNICEF or UNHCR, and for newspapers like The Guardian and The Telegraph. His work has also appeared in Time Magazine, Newsweek, Stern or Vanity Fair. Jordi received a Masters degree in Architecture at E.T.S.A.B. Barcelona in 2004. Also studied at U.L.P.G.C. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and L.T.H. Lund (Sweden). He worked for Joan Prats (Art Gallery) in Barcelona, several offices of Architecture in Barcelona and Manhattan, and has been taking pictures since an early age. Jordi is able to speak several languages such as Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese and French, and has good social and computer skills.
